We want to help older people in our communities to enjoy safe, secure and independent lives with a choice of support services to suit all needs.
Many people in Manchester choose to rent homes where support is on-hand, if it’s needed.
You are free to live your own independent life – come and go as you please, have visitors when you choose and do your shopping and leisure activities in whatever way suits you.
If you want to join in and meet people, there’s lots going on. Our retirement flats have communal lounges and gardens where people regularly meet to chat, play a game of bingo and socialise. It’s entirely up to you.
We have retirement flats in two locations:-
- North Road, Clayton
- Lily Thomas Court, Botha Close, Openshaw
- Additional retirement flats in other areas of Manchester are transferring to Eastlands Homes from Manchester City Council on 30 March 2009.
- A helping handOur sheltered housing officers (wardens) recognise and respect your privacy, but if you have any problems, they are there to help you.They are on site during the day but if you need someone at any other time we will get there as soon as we can – 24 hours a day. Just use the intercom system or pull-cord to notify our control room. We place great value on providing support and will make sure someone is available even when your sheltered housing officer is away.How we can help
You decide how much support you want from the sheltered housing officer. There are lots of ways they can help, such as;
- Seeing you quickly if there is an emergency
- Making sure you get the right help and support
- Calling regularly to see how you are and what you need
- Finding people to help if there is a problem
- Arranging repairs to your home
- Setting up social activities – our ‘Young at Heart Club’ organises lots of good events from quiz nights to weekends away
- Who lives in retirement homes and why do they choose them?
- Almost all our tenants are people aged 60 and above. Some want the security of having someone on-hand if needed. Some are vulnerable, perhaps because of illness or bereavement. A few tenants are a little younger than retirement age and live here because they need the support our housing officers can give. If you would like more information on our facilities, please either call us, or click here to contact Eastlands and an advisor will call you back.
